Listen to Jane Miller talk about 'Self help versus seeking help'

Jane Miller on how to get ahead...

“Get rid of all the notions that to be a business person you must be cold, harsh, overworked and not a kind person. There’s so many notions that I was brought up with and I know I’m not alone in that. I had to think about the skills I needed to learn, find out where I had to go to learn them and how to go about it.

“I had to make it work for me and select what aspects I wanted to take on board and learning to enjoy it. I believe any of us are capable of learning something if we’ve got a good enough reason, and setting up a business and making your business work is a good enough reason.”

I think the biggest thing I felt, and so many people I’ve spoken to have felt the same, I felt like a fake

On being true to yourself...

“It seemed really scary at first. I think the biggest thing I felt, and so many people I’ve spoken to have felt the same, I felt like a fake. I’ve read that lots of international speakers on business have felt like that at one point as well.

“But it’s about turning that around, doing it is the reality, no one’s a fake if you’re in the process of doing it, just keep the energy flow. Keep that momentum going and don’t let fear and disbelief undermine you.”
