Joshua on becoming an entrepreneur...
“I set up my first business when I was 19, in the summer holiday at university. I was doing a law degree and needed some money.
“I did a consultancy service for people surrounding the licensing applications when the licensing laws changed. And by the end of the summer, when I’d made a bit of money, I decided that business was much more fun than being a lawyer.
On why he set up iPlatform...
“This particular business came out of being extremely interested in online marketing and social media marketing, and then when Facebook launched their application platform in 2007, I saw it as a big opportunity, and I became a big, early evangelist for it.”
On how he financed it...
“It was completely financed from customer revenue. In reality that just meant not having a salary for a long time!
“As we got off the ground and built the customer base, we started charging proper money and developing our products properly. Essentially it was through consultancy and being extremely tight on costs.”
