Jane Miller on starting a business...
“It’s quite a classic route, searching on the web for what’s available. There are so many different offers and in the end it becomes really confusing. Each service had something to offer in the early stages of setting up my business, because I didn’t have many clients. I had time to sit down and go through all this.
You can get so much from the freebies but in the end you have to put your money where your mouth is

“But it can also scare you because people are saying, ‘You’ve got to have a USP, you’ve got to have search engine optimisation, you must have an online presence’, and in the end you feel like you can’t cope with it all!”
On paying for business advice...
“I went to South East Enterprise, who have been brilliant, I selected a few courses with them and decided at a certain point I had to pay.
“You can get so much from the freebies but in the end you have to put your money where your mouth is.
On making money and offering a good service...
“I really want to give quality. There’s lots of money to be made and you can become a millionaire if you want to do it – but I don’t want to do it.
“I don’t want to be someone who isn’t offering a genuine service from a very genuine place. It taught me I really want to be ‘me’ and I want people to take my services for what I can offer them.”
