Here are five compelling reasons to use social networking sites.
It’s what I call an ‘ecommerce-free’ form of internet marketing.
1. EASE OF USE – It’s free, fast, fun and a great way to keep in touch with business contacts. You can easily sign up for free, upload a profile picture and start customising your page.
2. NETWORKING – It’s perfect for building links, launching viral advertising or getting bloggers to your products while building relationships that will last. It’s always about networks! Linking Mr Smith to Mr Blogs and then back to you – a busy network of interlinked relationships that reaps dividends.
3. WORLDWIDE – The chance to be connected to anyone in any country at the click of a button makes it a powerful tool. Just imagine being on holiday abroad whilst traffic in your your list of networked relationships continues to drive traffic to whatever link, website or product you want.
4. BLOGGING – The minute a blog or post is uploaded, then if it captures the imagination, it will spread rapidly. I remember when Michael Jackson passed away, I was awoken by my phone buzzing away as so many friends updated their profiles online! Information spreads like wildfire around the globe.
5. LINKS – You can always post or ‘tweet’ a link to any site or article you want. Whether through a silly video on YouTube or satirical comment on a forum, links are always a great way to get people to view what you want and also to get ‘back links’, which boost your Google ranking.
