Sadie on how social networking helps business start-ups...

“Channels such as Facebook and Twitter helps your business stand out. You can directly approach potential customers rather than hoping they might stumble upon your website through Google.

Using Twitter for business marketing is great and it’s a casual way of promoting yourself. You can use it in a way that it doesn’t seem like advertising and it creates more of a community around your business.”

On the wholesale and distribution side to her business...

“It’s a really interesting side of the business where we can work directly with cafe owners and offer bespoke blending, so we can cater to their specific needs.

People tend to think they can open up anywhere, serve a half decent cup of coffee and people will flock to them, that’s unfortunately not the truth anymore

“It’s an interactive service in which the cafe owner and customer feel they have an input in what coffee their using and buying.”

Advice for young entrepreneurs...

“Don’t think it’s easy and make sure you do all of your research. People tend to think they can open up anywhere, serve a half decent cup of coffee and people will flock to them - but that’s unfortunately not the truth anymore.

“You have to know your product, provide a good service and be consistent. You must understand every fact before you open those doors, because the customers will know if you don’t - they’re very canny.”
