ISO success
Horizon Platforms can proudly claim to be the first privately-owned, independent powered access specialist in the UK to achieve the following three key ISO accreditations:
We are proud to have efficient and effective monitoring procedures in place that allow us to continually improve the quality of our products and services, reduce any negative impact on the environment and maintain our exemplary health and safety record
Ben Hirst, Horizon Platforms MD
- ISO9001 - Quality Management Systems
- ISO14001 - Environmental Management Standard
- OHSAS18001 - Occupational Health and Safety
Ben Hirst, joint managing director at the company, comments on the awarding of the accreditations, which prove adherence to the highest quality, environmental and health and safety standards: “This has been an interesting, challenging and rewarding process during which we have learned a lot about ourselves as a business and where we would like to take the company in future.
“We are proud to have efficient and effective monitoring procedures in place that allow us to continually improve the quality of our products and services, reduce any negative impact on the environment and maintain our exemplary health and safety record.
Environmental and customer service improvements
Horizon also takes its environmental impact very seriously, implementing a comprehensive recycling policy throughout the business. This is already reaping dividends, and not just to the environment, as cost savings filter through.
Horizon has reduced emissions produced by its transport department by investing in the latest eight-wheel Volvo FM delivery trucks, which deliver their products quickly while meeting EU exhaust emissions standards.
Moreover, Horizon is renowned for peerless customer service and a rigid adherence to industry guidelines on quality control. The Horizon team has rigorously extended existing systems to encompass health, safety and environmental responsibilities in its company procedures.
Having introduced a more systematic way to gather customer feedback on performance, the company was well placed to make organisational improvements in accordance with ISO accreditation benchmarks.
“ISO standards are becoming a key consideration for many large organisations,” continues Ben Hirst. “They need to be confident that they are working with suppliers who highlight quality, environmental awareness and health and safety as a top priority. Now we have the independent endorsement to prove we do precisely that.”
Training and accessories
As well as powered access equipment, Horizon also provides useful accessories and product training.
Additional products that aid the safe and efficient use of equipment hired include safety harnesses and charging leads. All accessories can be delivered to customers within 24 hours.
Finally, Horizon is a leading provider of International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) training courses for anyone who needs to engage in mobile elevating work as part of their job.
